OLLIE TIMES TREPORTI TO PERFECTION

Treporti showed an electric turn of foot at Moonee Valley on Friday night for jockey Damien Oliver as he surged past his rivals in the shadows of the post.

The Hall Of Fame hoop timed his run to perfection as the son of I Am Invincible hit the front right on the line to win his first race.

It had taken the well-bred gelding eight starts to greet the judge, but he had been knocking on the door with five placings and two black-type fourths to start his career.

Danny O'Brien Racing Manager Jack Howard summed it up nicely post race when talking about the jockey's influence.  "You wouldn't want to have anyone else in the saddle over the final 50m in a tight finish."
