ORNOS LIGHTS UP ON DEBUT
Ornos showed he could be a player in some two-year-old features this Autumn will a classy debut win at Bendigo on Sunday.
Trainer Danny O'Brien was thrilled with the colt's win over 1000m and he said a race like the Vobis Showdown later this Autumn could be an option for the son of Toronado.
"I feel this will be a deep race as quite a few of them had a spruik on them, so it is really pleasing that he could come here and get the job done," O'Brien said on-course post race.
"If he comes through it well he has plenty of options and being a Victorian-bred horse that Showdown would be a great opportunity for him."
Winning jockey Blake Shinn was full of praise for the first starter.
"To be able to win on debut always shows that a horse has talent and today it was a strong performance," Shinn said.
"He has so much improvement to come and he did today on raw ability. He has an exciting future."
Ornos was $150,000 purchase from Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale last year and raced by O'Brien, his wife Nina, David Moodie of Hesket Bloodstock and Queenslander Ben Cameron.
