PETERS' STARS SETTLE IN AT 13TH BEACH
Bob Peters-owned Group 1 winners Western Empire and Regal Power are settling into their new surrounds at Danny O’Brien’s Thirteenth Beach property.
The duo have been with O’Brien for a month after being transferred from Grant and Alana Williams and are amongst eleven horses Western Australia’s leviathan owner Peters has with the stable.
“They came to us off a break and in really great shape,” O’Brien said.
“They are really enjoying the new environment down on Thirteenth Beach doing plenty of work as we speak.
“They’ll come up and race in the early part of the spring and Bob Peter will decide where they are best placed.
“Western Empire is still a young emerging horse, he won the Railway Stakes on the minimum this year and has got to take that step to the top-line events out of handicaps.
“Whereas Regal Power has already been proven over here winning an All Star Mile and a Kingstown Town Stakes winner at weight-for-age and ran second in an Australian Cup, so he’s already got the score on the board.”
Western Empire has not raced since being beaten as a $1.20 favourite to Regal Power in last December’s Kingstown Town Stakes.
The added star power to O’Brien’s stable no doubt helped by success from Peters Cantala Stakes winner Superstorm, who was not sighted in the autumn.
“He spent the Autumn out with a minor splint bone issue,” O’Brien explained.
“He is fantastic now and is really happy with himself now he’s back in work.
“He is a horse that will be ready early in the spring potentially for something like the Makybe Diva Stakes.”
O’Brien also has Graceful Girl, Inspirational Girl, Stageman Midnight Blue, Showmanship, Zaratite, Picture Perfect and Real Charisma in his care for Western Australia's leading owner.
