RED ARMY FILLY BREEZES HOME
Rosemont Stud continued their excellent run when La Isla Bonita breezed to victory at Werribee on Friday.
The three-year-old filly was first-up at start three and the result never appeared in doubt after jockey Fred Kersley pushed forward early and controlled the race outside the leader.
"She got into a great rhythm and I was conscious of getting on our bike from the 400m as our main dangers were back in the field and she gave a strong kick and was too good," Kersley said
The Danny O'Brien-trained daughter of gun sire I Am Invincible appears destined for more wins.
"She did it quite comfortably and think she will gain a lot of confidence from the performance," Kerlsey said.
The win was Kersley's first since returning to the saddle from an injury lay-off.
"It's been a work in progress to get that first winner since coming back, but thankfully Danny has been giving me opportunities and I am glad I can repay the faith."
