Remember The Name victorious at Benalla

Rosemont Stud filly Remember The Name has been building strongly towards her maiden victory and on Friday she produced a strong performance over 1400m at Benalla to break her through for her first victory.

The Lope De Vega filly, who was race favourite, proved too strong for her rivals as she settled on speed and powered to victory when produced at the top of the straight.

Apprentice jockey Taylor Marshall said the win was very strong and expected the the three-year-old to go on to better races.

"She took on the boys today and was able to put pay to them easily which was great," Marshall said.

"She began well and could have held the lead, but I decided to take a sit as there was good pressure early, and she relaxed well and then proved too good."

Marshall said he was a little apprehensive pre-race about the filly's chances given the conditions.

"Given she coming off an excellent effort on heavy ground, I was a little concerned pre-race given how firm the track was, but she showed he class and versatility to get the job done.

"She was getting stronger on the line, so stepping out in trip won't be a problem moving forward for her."
