SAVEE THE BEST TIL LAST

Savee proved far too good for her rivals in the final event at Moe on Sunday with a barnstorming finish.

The daughter of Grunt relished the Heavy 9 conditions and careered away for a four-length romp eased down.

Jockey Jason Maskiell settled the three-year-old back in the field from a wide gate before circling the field and coming to the outside part of the track for the sprint home.

“She travelled beautifully out three-deep with cover and she tracked into it strongly,” Maskiell said post race.

“Once we got to the better going out wide she powered away. It was a really good win.”

Savee has now won two races and placed three times from 10 career starts.

Trainer Danny O’Brien said the filly loved wet ground and he would be looking for a heavy track next start with the talented filly.

“Even though this was only BM58 grade, when you win like that you are usually very competitive in the next race you take on so we will keep hunting wet tracks with her and see if we can make it back-to-back wins,” O’Brien said.
