SEA WHAT I SEE STAKES WIN
Sea What I See has landed her sixth-consecutive victory and first at black-type level in the Listed Centaurea Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.
Trained by Danny O'Brien, the talented stayer jumped a $1.80 favourite, having been too strong going through her grades to date.
Despite looking like getting cast wide early, Blake Shinn settled Sea What I See in a good spot and she travelled strongly around the bend, making her run with Silent Surrente ($5.50), who chased gallantly.
Having stuck to his plan to move Sea What I See through her grades, O'Brien was glad to see her handle the rise in class.
"(Silent Surrente) is a classy mare, we knew today that her and Seonee were well-performed class mares and we were going to have to step up," he said.
"It was a really good battle between two good mares down the running and I'm very pleased we got the better of them.
"She's a four-year-old mare on Northern Hemisphere time but only just into her four-year-old season."
However, the striking grey mare packed too many punches, holding a margin to the line in a big win for favourite backers.
O'Brien was relieved to see his galloper take out a race the team had circled a long time ago and impressed by Shinn's clever steer.
"It was a race we were hoping she'd get to all preparation, she's done everything right on the way through but it was good to get the job done," he said.
"I was watching from the stands and I thought we're going to be four or five deep here and then all of a sudden we're one out, one back.
"I'll have to have a look at the stewards' footage, but yeah, a piece of magic from Blake."
