SELF SERVE AVOids the queues
Self Serve looked impressive on debut as she launched late to score over 1000m at Warrnambool on Monday.
The three-year-old daughter of Ocean Park was in an early battle for the lead before apprentice Tom Prebble eased to stalk the leaders.
The 2kg claimer then gave the first starter plenty of room to get balanced before she surged to the line inside the final furlong to claim the victory.
Trainer Danny O'Brien's Barwon Heads Foreman Michael Blomeley was full of praise for the apprentice.
"That was an excellent ride, his decision to back off and give her time to travel ended up winning her the race," Blomeley said.
He also added that the result was a rewarding one for the stable staff.
"She is a filly we have had to put plenty of time into to make sure she is sound and the staff have done a terrific job getting her in shape for her debut today off the back of a longer term injury."
