So Little Time salutes

Leading trainer Danny O'Brien produced a horse for the future at Geelong on Saturday when four-year-old gelding So Little Time made a winning start to his career.

The troublesome gelding started at $20 and at times appeared not likely to race given, he dumped jockey Daniel Stackhouse on the way to the gates and then was required to be vetted after playing up in the barriers once loaded.

O'Brien praised his staff for the result as he said much work had gone in behind the scenes to get the son of So You Think to the races.

"Since we got him he has been a work in progress as his behaviour has left a little bit to be desired, but much time has gone into him and this result shows he is a horse worth persevering with," O'Brien said

Jockey Daniel Stackhouse said So Little Time, who settled behind the leader and railed to the lead through at the top of the straight, had a bright future given he was able to perform despite his pre-race and post-race antics.

"He dropped after the race as well, so once he learns to settle down he has the makings of a nice horse as his win was very strong and once he knows what he is doing the sky's the limit," Stackhouse said.

O'Brien trained the quinella of the 1300m maiden as race favourite Absolute Heaven, half-sister to O'Brien's Group 1 winner Absolut Glam, finished second despite a torrid run.

"She got into a nice spot early, but then she had the horse out three-wide whose saddle slipped laying on her and then rounding the turn the leader ran her off the track," O'Brien said.

"All things considered her ability to pick herself up and finish a clear second bodes well for her future."
