Stand-up performance from Gervais
Bluesky Bloodstock's Gervais put his recent bad luck behind in him with an encouraging win at Geelong.
After three luckless runs for a variety of reasons to start his campaign, the son of Rip Van Winkle proved too strong in the BM64 1300m event, coming from back in the field to surge to victory.
The win was the gelding's second from eights starts and trainer Danny O'Brien hopes today's win will see Gervais hold his good form.
"It was important to get the result today and give the horse some confidence as it has been a while between drinks," O'Brien said.
"I liked the way he found the front early and kept going all the way to the line, it was a good win and hopefully this holds him in good stead for the remaidner of his preparaton."
