SUPER WIN BY ANGEL

Gun jockey Jamie Kah was able to unlock the best of talented mare Americain Angel as she broke through for her first city win.

The daughter of Americain had won only one of her 10 starts before this Boxing Day 1600m event, however she had placed second on seven occasions as well as another third placing.

Kah pushed forward from a wide gate and managed to land the race favourite into the one-out, one-back position in running before putting her into the race upon straightening and holding off all challenges.

"She was tough today as I had to use her at both ends of the race," Kah said.

"The only time this horse has ever missed a place was in a Group 1 and she was far from disgraced so hopefully she can take confidence from today and go on with it."

Kah said she expected the four-year-old mare, who is owned by John Newton of Super Impose fame,  would be better suited over 2000m as her campaign progressed further.
