Synthetic form stacks up for Dawn

Punters didn't have confidence, but Daily At Dawn defied a betting drift to notch back-to-back wins at Geelong on Monday.

The stats on horses backing up a synthetic track win with a victory on grass next start is quite low, but the daughter of Dawn Approach proved too strong for her rivals in the 1200m BM58 event after blowing from $7 out to $11 in betting.

Jockey James Winks said the three-year-old filly was perfectly placed by trainer Danny O'Brien to make it successive wins.

"Danny has done a terrific job with this filly and she will take a lot of confidence out of her past two starts," Winks said.

"She is in good form and I can't see a reason why she can't go on with it."

O'Brien said the Widden Stud-bred and owned filly has really come on at the start of her three-year-old season.

"As a two-year-old she just didn't know what to do in the final 100m of her races, so that's why we picked out two soft races for her resumption as hopefully she can learn a lot that which will hold her in good stead for when we test her in higher rated races in the future," O'Brien said.
