THE GENIUS MAKES SMART MOVE

Emerging stayer The Genius put in a classy showing on Friday night at Moonee Valley. 

The son of So You Think was sent out as race favorite in the 2500m BM64 event and he was able to overcome a couple of nervous moments to secure the win with leading jockey Damian Lane aboard. 

"He travelled beautifully in the run, however coming to the turn we weren't following the right horses and were going to need some luck," Lane said post race.

"Rhys McLeod made a smart move to get going early and steal a break on us, but this did open them up  which allowed us to get off the fence and the horse did a really good job to chase him down in what was a soft win in the end.

"The horse is progressing nicely and I could seem him stringing some wins together through the summer over these staying distances."
