THREE FROM FOUR FOR SUN GIFT

Waikato Stud's Sun Gift continued her hot form winning for the third time in four starts with a breathtaking surge at Geelong on Wednesday.

The four-year-old mare settled last after a slow getaway of the 2418m event before maintaining a long sweeping run around the field to win eased down.

Jockey Damian Lane was taken aback from the performance.

"Given we were back in the field with some slow horses, I had to ask her to make a long sustained run and she galloped strongly through the line, which was encouraging and shows she has a good future," Lane said post-race.

"It was also a tough day to make ground as well, which shows she was just a class above these horses today. I expect she will go on with it and reach a reasonable level."

The win bookended the program for trainer Danny O'Brien after Rock The Bar was victorious opening event of the Geelong program in a BM64 over 1512m.
