Three state blitz for O'Brien

Victorian trainer Danny O'Brien has a huge weekend coming up with runners across three states.

Risign star three-year-old and Adamantium, pictured left, will line up in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

In Melbourne, O'Brien will saddle Snitzel two-year-old filly Sweet Grace, last start Flemington winner The New Boy and the speedy Taylor's Command resumes from a spell at the Sandown meeting.

Rounding out the trainer's runners for the weekend is Savabeel mare Fabulist who will line up in the 0-86 event over 1400m with Mark Pegus taking the ride.

"It's a big weekend for the stable with some nice chances," O'Brien said.

"Adamantium travelled up to Queensland earlier this week and have settled in terrificly well. I am expecting him to be right in the on Saturday as he is Group 1 placed at weight-for-age level over this distance."

O'Brien confirmed that Shopaholic had been scratched from the Guineas due to the track conditions and the mulitple Group winner will instead head straight into next week's $1 million Stradbroke Handicap second-up.

When gauging his runners at home, O'Brien rated The New Boy an excellent chance to make it back-to-back wins.

"He won impressively last start and this is a suitable race for him, especially after Jake Duffy's claim."

"Sweet Grace has taken great improvement following her third on debut in Adelaide and she will appreciate the extra 200m here, while Taylor's Command races well fresh and is unlucky to not already be a metropolitan winner."

Fabulist's last win was at Morphettville on Melbourne Cup Day and O'Brien is hoping a return to Adelaide tomorrow will see the mare back in the winner's circle.

"She will appreciate the drop in class and Mark Pegus found the winning formula with her last time he rode her over there so we are hoping for the same result this weekend."
