Two from three for Billy Vee

Trainer Danny O'Brien is set to raise the bar for the emerging Billy Vee, who made it two wins from three starts at Echuca on Thursday.

The Astronomer Royal gelding is headed for his first test in town, with O'Brien looking at a 1500m three-year-old event at Moonee Valley at the end of the month.

"A horse that can win its maiden and then again at Benchmark 64 level in it's first three starts has good ability and should be given the chance to test itself in city class," O'Brien said.

"He's tough as nails and keeps putting in which is a great trait to have and I can't wait to see if he can measure up when he comes to town next start."

Billy Vee, who raced in a partnership put together by Shamus Award owner Viv Oldfield after he purchased the horse for just $5000, has won $22,100 from his three career starts so far.
