WFA placing has Adamantium primed for Guineas
Top colt Adamantium is set to run the race of his career in next Saturday's Group 1 Australian Guineas following his placing at weight-for-age in the Futurity Stakes on the weekend.
The three-year-old by Elusive City has been in top form without winning this campaign which has seen him placed at Group 2 level against his own age and Saturday's 1400m Group 1 placing against the open aged horses.
His trainer Danny O'Brien has been thrilled with Adamantium's build up and is confident that the colt will be peaking over the mile on his home track.
"He has improved each run this campaign and it's all been focussed about having him peaking for the 1600m of the Guineas," O'Brien said.
"His run on Saturday was terrific at weight-for-age level and he heads into Saturday's feature with an excellent formline."
Adamantium last stepped out at Flemington in the Group 1 Coolmore on Derby Day where he ran a credible 2.1 length fifth to Sepoy.
"His past two runs at 1400m have him ready for 1600m and he has the versatility to race forward or back which makes him a great chance in the Guineas."
O'Brien won the three-year-old classic on his home track last year with filly Shamrocker and this year he will saddle two strong chances with Adamantium and Decircles.
