Williams thrilled with Commanding performance

Talented sprinter Order of Command proved he was not just a straight-track performer when he blew away his rivals in the 1200m open handicap at Caulfield on Saturday.

Settling back on the fence from barrier 1, jockey Craig Williams picked his way through the field before getting the son of Squamosa to the middle of the track and letting down too powerfully for his rivals.

"I have been trying to get onto this horse for a long time as Damien has been hard to get off him, but with him in Adelaide today, I got my chance and I am thrilled to get the result for Danny and the owners," Williams said post race.

"He has excellent form down the straight, but he is just a good horse as he enjoyed the bend just as much today."

The win was the gelding's fifth from 14 starts and trainer Danny O'Brien was thrilled with the performance.

"He ran into a smart in-form horse first-up (when finished second), so it was pleasing that today he could get back onto the winner's list," O'Brien said.
