BACK-TO-BACK FOR BALASTIER

Former Queenslander Balastier made it back-to-back wins for his new trainer Danny O'Brien when he again showed a sustained speed while winning at Bendigo on Sunday.

The dominant win bought up a double for the O'Brien stable after the earlier win by Crown Of Russia.

Danny O'Brien's Racing Manager Jack Howard heaped praise on the ride of apprentice Tom Prebble.

"He is a fast horse and you have to let fast horses be fast. Tom has done a heap of work on this horse and he knows that have to hold him together as long as you can and I thought he did that really well again today," Howard said.

"Tom has done a lot of work for us and he is a kid with a really bright future."

Balastier loves wet ground and the horse would have loved the sound of the rain teeming down on the float roof on the drive to Bendigo.

The son Brazen Beau's record improves to three wins from seven starts and O'Brien is thinking about using the gelding's speed in a straight line with a trip to Flemignton for his next start on the cards.
