Sun Gift made it back-to-back city wins with a dominant victory over 2000m at Flemington on Saturday.

The daughter of Savabeel is in rare form having notched successive city victories after backing up her last gasp effort at Cranbourne with a strong dominant display at headquarters.

Jockey Jamie Melham was very proactive from the barriers pushing the five-year-old forward and sitting outside the leader in running.  Turning for home Sun Gift took over and burst clear holding off all her arrivals to win comfortably. 

"She was in a good mood and got the start right, and that made my job a lot easier being able to sit up on the speed controlling the race," Melham said post race. 

"She was very strong  with something that went a long way towards her winning she's a very strong man and she gallop strongly through the line.

The Waikato Stud bred and owned mare is exciting form with five wins and seven second placings from her 21 start career. 

Trainer Danny O'Brien said after back-to-back 2000m wins, the mare she is ready to step up in trip at her next start as she looks to make it a hat-trick of victories.
