Dominant win for Franky following surgery

A successful throat operation has led to Frankincense putting in a career best performance on Saturday at Geelong.

The Makfi-gelding, ridden perfectly by Daniel Moor, proved too strong for his rivals blitzing the field in the 1300m Benchmark 58 event by three lengths.

"He was way too classy for them on Saturday and it was great to see him perform like that at just his second start since his throat operation," trainer Danny O'Brien said.

"His first-up second was sound, but he took it to a new level on Saturday and with the surgery appearing successful I am confident he can run through his grades this preparation."

The win was the four-year-old's second from 11 starts and O'Brien expects the Champion Thoroughbreds-owned horse to get better as he gets out in trip.

"Jason (Abrahams) and his owners have been very patient with this horse, but I think the tide will turn and they will have a lot of fun with him this time in especially when he gets out to a mile."
