EGAN'S HOT FORM CONTINUES

When jockey Billy Egan rides for Danny O'Brien punters should cash in.  On Wednesday at Kyneton, the duo teamed up to win the first race with Setheus - their seventh winner for the season.

Egan's strike rate for the Melbourne Cup winner this season is 29.2% from his 24 rides. He is also shooting at 66.7% place strike rate.

"I have been having a bit of luck for Danny of late, which has been good," Egan said.

"We probably thought we should have won one with him before today, but the leader gave and good kick and he needed to knuckle to get the job done, which he did."

Setheus's victory was his first at start nine in a career which has also included five placings.

O'Brien's Flemington Assistant Trainer Michael Blomeley was full of praise for Egan.

"In a small field like today's tactics are important and Billy summed up the race well early and always had in the spot to give him his chance." Blomeley said.

"He has been unlucky to continue to run into one better before today, so it's great to get the job done for his connections.
