FARHH OUT THAT WAS CLOSE

Farhh Flung defied a lunge from Rise To It to claim the 1800m 3YO+ Benchmark 78 at Sandown and make it his second win in his past three starts.

The UK-bred gelding loves AFL Grand Final weekend as it is the second time in his career he has won in town on the iconic weekend.

On Saturday, jockey Blake Shinn timed the run on Farhh Flung to perfection, stalking the speed and only exposing the Danny O’Brien-trained seven-year-old gelding inside the last 75m.

Rise To It matched motors with Farhh Flung as Makdane threatened but settled for third, the trio fighting out a tight finish.

“This horse goes well coiled up,” Shinn said.

“He’s the type of horse you don’t want to hit the front too early on.

“We could afford to be patient on him … got the timing just right and well-deserved another win.”
