FILLY DOES HER DAD PROUD

Sovereign Award emulated her sire at the Valley on Friday night by winning at Moonee Valley.

The BM70 1600m event was a long way from Shamus Award's Cox Plate heroics, howeve it had special meaning for Dee Sealey as she raced the sire and bred this four-year-old filly.

"It's been six years since I have been in this room, but it's still as exciting as ever," Sealey said from the winner's room at Moonee Valley.

Ridden by Melbourne Cup hero Craig Williams, Sovereign Award settled back in the field after an awkward getaway before coming with a strong run to out bob race leader Brimm right in the line.

"It was a really good performance from her as it wasn't out plan to be so far back, but as she continues to improve and learn to settle she should be able to step out in trip and be very competitive," Williams said.
