FLUNG BREAKS THROUGH FOR FARHH OVERDUE WIN
Consistent gelding Farhh Flung broke through for a deserved win at Moonee Valley over 1600m on Saturday.
The win broke a 23-month drought for the UK yearling purchase, but the Danny O'Brien trainer galloper had been in good recent form and Craig Williams gave him a perfect ride from the inside alley.
"He's not the easiest of us to ride, but the map looked good for him today and that's the way it turned out. Craig just timed it perfectly, kept sucking into the race and produced him in the last 150 metres and got there just on the line," O'Brien said post race.
O'Brien said being in the limit weight in the handicap gave the Northern Hemisphere-bred a great chance to bounce back into the winner's enclosure.
"That always helps you in the last 100 metres given he was chasing a horse at the top of the weights, so I was reasonably confident inside the 200 that he'd probably level up and win."
Williams said it was a race that planned out perfectly.
"He's so consistent running so well in this grade, but 11 seconds, it's really hard, because there's no hiding spots. He's such a sweet horse to do anything with, and most importantly, he's got another win on the board today.," Williams said.
Farhh Flung now has five wins to go with his 11 second placings as he closese in on $500,000 in prizemoney.
