HERE COMES THE BOOM
A sharp step-up and trip was the catalyst for Lucky Lucky Boom to break his maiden at Yarra Valley on Tuesday.
The three-year-old was stepping up to 1500m having only ever raced over 1100m in his career.
Trainer Danny O'Brien was thrilled with the gelding's performance at start four.
"Jordy Childs gave him an absolute peach of a ride an even though he had a good look around when he hit the front, I was thrilled with his performance," O'Brien said post race.
"He has been a slow burn, but he should garner a great deal of confidence from today's win and hopefully he can go on with it. "
Ironically, the Magic Millions Gold Coast 2024 purchase was able to get his first win on the opening day of the famed sale.
O'Brien snared three horses through the ring on Day 1, with an In The Congo colt and So You Think and Rebel Dane fillies joining the Melbourne Cup winning trainer's stable.
