HURRY CURRY PLACES IN VRC OAKS

Waikato Stud filly Hurry Curry ran the race of her life as she finished third in the Group 1 VRC Oaks on Thursday.

Ridden by superstar international jockey Joao Moreira, Hurry Curry settled midfield following race favorite and eventual winner Treasurethe Moment.

“She had a very good run through the race. We tracked the winner and when we pulled to the outside into the straight she had every chance," Moreira said post race.

"She gave them some challenge, but she wasn’t good enough to go past them. Especially the winner. However, I still think it was a very good run.”

Hurry Curry won a 1600m maiden event at Bairnsdale on September 9 and two months later she has placed in the blue ribband Cup Week event.

"We are thrilled with her performance and it she was given every chance by Joao," trainer Danny O'Brien said post-race.

"To come this far on her first preparation has us excited about what the future holds for her.

"I would expect you will see her back contesting another Oaks either in Sydney or Adelaide, but there are plenty of options for a class staying filly."

Hurry Curry joined NZ-breds Miami Bound, Shamrocker, Placement and Salto Angel as a Top 3 placegetter in the VRC Oaks.

"We had some luck with kiwi fillies over the time. They are tough and have ability, and we actually have one left on website so you could do worse than come into her as she is from a strong Waikato Stud family," O'Brien said.
