KEEP AN EYE ON SASS
Trainer Danny O'Brien's hot form continued at Flemington with his third Saturday city double in three weeks, but even more importantly he appears to have an exciting filly for the future in Sass Appeal.
The three-year-old filly was dominant in the final race on the card at Flemington as the daughter of So You Think stepped from maiden grade straight to headquarters.
"She looks like a proper horse. We have always had a big opinion of her. She is an impressive filly by a very good filly and has a massive pedigree on the dam side amd every time she has been to the races she has stepped up and learned more about it," O'Brien said post race.
"We haven't got anywhere neat the bottom of what's under the hood yet, but she is having good experiences every time and I am sure we can keep raising the bar with her."
The Melbourne Cup winning trainer will raise the bar for her next start as he has earmarked the Group 3 fillies xx00m event back at headquarters for her next race start.
And a run at Group 1 level Australian Guineas is not off the table.
"We have to remember she has carried the minimum here today against off-season three-year-olds, so she will need to step up again against the fillies next time out, but if she did that she would have had avery preparation to run in a Group 1, but it is all happening pretty quickly at the moment."
