LEARNING CURVE REWARD FOR YOUNG STAYER
Thundering Falcon has been learning on the job as trainer Danny O'Brien teaches the young stayer through racing.
The three-year-old is appearing to be catching on as he broke through for his maiden win in his fifth career start on Sunday at Moe over 2400m.
"He is a young horse with plenty of potential but the only way for him to learn was to keep racing him," O'Brien said.
"I didn't think he would make past one, maybe two runs on this first campaign, but he thrived with racing and it was great to see him get the job done today."
The young stayer is by Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente and he is female pedigree includes another Melbourne Cup winner in Empire Rose.
"He is bred to stay and he has all the attributes of what makes a stayer so I can't wait to see what he can do down the track."
O'Brien will now give the gelding a spell and look to have him racing again towards the back end of the season.
