MONSTER OF GEELONG

Lario is proving a monster performer at Geelong as the gelding maintained his unbeaten streak at the track with victory on Wednesday.

The four-year-old gelding, who given he is out of mare Lake Como is named after the mythical creature that lurks in the depths of the famous Italian water body, has now won both his starts at Geelong.

"He has trialed up nicely this campaign and if not for stepping poorly we felt he would have been in the finish at his first-up run,. So it is good he could show his good form today," Danny O'Brien's Assistant Trainer Ellie Morrison said post-race.

Morrison was also a huge rap for jockey Bill Egan's ride.

"Billy's ride was terrific as he got him into an excellent position from the wide gate. We were very happy when he was stalking the speed into the home straight and ready to pounce. And pounce he did," Morrison added.

The son of Epaulette has three wins and six placings from 15 career starts following the victory.
