O'BRIEN STARS DELIGHT IN GEELONG GALLOP

It was a gallop to excite even the most casual of racing fans.

Australia's staying star Vow And Declare having a pipe-opener alongside his heir apparent, exciting stablemate Russian Camelot.

That was the scene at Geelong on Friday as the defending Melbourne Cup champion and the South Australian Derby winner went stride for stride in a piece of work designed to ready them for a spring return.

Watch the gallop and hear from trainer Danny O'Brien said the pair, who rarely ever work against each other, had enjoyed a faultless campaign to date by clicking below.

O'Brien confirmed both horses would likely resume in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington in mid-September.

While the Melbourne Cup is again the ultimate aim for Vow And Declare, O'Brien is yet to confirm whether Russian Camelot will chase a Cox Plate at The Valley or also target the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup.

Russian Camelot is a $9 chance for the Melbourne Cup with BetEasy, while Vow And Declare is $26.
