Pole position for Vettel on debut

The winners keep coming for champion sire Redoute's Choice, who had an interesting debut winner at Geelong on Sunday carrying the colours of Blue Sky Thoroughbreds.

Prepared by Danny O'Brien, three-year-old colt Vettel started favourite in the 1212m maiden and enjoyed a cosy run in transit from barrier one before skipping clear in the straight to win by three-quarters of a length.

A $550,000 purchase from the Kulani Park draft from the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Vettel (pictured winning) is raced by Arrowfield Pastoral Syndicate and the Blue Sky Stallion Fund No.3 Syndicate.

Vettel is the fourth winner for US Group 2 winner Dancing (GB), a half-sister by Spectrum to the dam of dual Group 1 winning stayer Zavite, so one would expect him to improve over ground.

Vettel's sire Redoute's Choice has regained a narrow lead on the Australian General Sires List by earnings over the weekend, displacing Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden's sire Nicobar at the top of the list.
