RIORDAN AVOIDS HELLISH TIME AT HOME

The old saying goes "Happy Wife, Happy Life" and for jockey Liam Riordan that rang true at Echuca on Friday.

The young hoop's wife Emily is managing owner of Hellish, who was trying to break his maiden status at start 10 with Riordan in the saddle.

"It's great, and a relief, to finally get his maiden out the way and it will make life at home great. These are the first win Emily's silks so it will be nice to get the picture on the wall," Riordan said post-race.

"We have always thought this horse has had ability, but he has found a way to throw some races away, but luckily today he did enough to hold on and get the win."

The win was Riordan's 18th for trainer Danny O'Brien for the season with the combination striking at 20.7%
