SALTO ANGEL BREAKS THROUGH

VRC Oaks runner-up Salto Angel broke through for her maiden victory at Werribee on Sunday thanks to an excellent ride from Damian Lane.

As the field cantered to the gates for the 2000m maiden event, Salto Angel was a hot favourite with punters despite greeting the starter for the 14th time.

From a prizemoney point of view the daughter of Sacred Falls had amassed a total of $299, 950 compared to the $81,900 of her nine rivals combined.

And Sunday was finally her day as a D Lane special saw her secure the win by the barest of margins.

It was Lane's third win for the weekend from three rides for the stable, however his momentum will be stalled at home as he jets off to take part in this week's Hong Kong International Jockey Series tomorrow.
