Tahi toughs it out at Sale

Waikato Stud bred and owned Tahi showed tenacious resilience to score at Sale on Sunday after not being closer that four-wide the entire 1200m event.

Having drawn wide the O'Reilly settled just off the speed out deep on the track for jockey Ben Thompson.

"I did him no favours, but he kept coming and he showed he was the best horse in the race to get the job done," Thompson said post race.

"All credit must go to the Danny O'Brien and his team as they turned him out in terrific order and he has performed accordingly."

Thompson said the win should give the son of Group 1 winner Glamour Puss the confidence to head back to town and be competitive as he did as a three-year-old.

"I definitely think he can go with it as that was a very good performance."
