TOUGH AS A BUTTON AT SALE

Gutsy filly Button Express scored a much deserved second victory at Sale on Sunday.

The daughter of Shamexpress had been racing consistently without being able to salute again since her maiden victory at Mornington on New Year’s
Day.

However a decision to take a sit behind the leaders by jockey Ben Thompson, proved the winning move as the three-year-old was able dig deep and hold off the late challenges to score in the 1200m BM64 event.

“She deserved this win as she had been racing so well since her maiden, but in each race she was getting involved in speed battles which told on her late,” Thompson said.

“I am thrilled for her and thrilled for the connections as I like repaying their faith that extends all the way back to when I was an apprentice and they gave me a opportunity to ride for them aboard De Little Engine in the Caulfield Cup.”
