WARRIOR SURGES THROUGH THE RAIN
Rogue Warrior started the wet and wild Sunday at Sale on the right note for favourite backers as he surged to his maiden victory.
The son of Prague, carrying the colours of Kia Oro Stud, had put the writing on the wall with two nice runs to start the preparation, and he made light work of the field in the 1415m maiden event.
Jockey Billy Egan was able to settle the three-year-old gelding into a nice position back in the field before looming into the finish ominously at the top of the straight.
"He worked up to them like he was going to win going away, but he is still inexperienced and he waited for the second horse a bit," a soaked Egan said after the opening race on the eventual abandoned race card.
"He has more improvement to come given that, but he did an excellent job and is a nice horse."
