Winter campaigns begin in SA

Danny O'Brien will kick off the winter campaigns of a couple of his star colts at Morphettville tomorrow.

Top liners Adamantium and DeCircles will contest sprint races as they tune up for Queensland Winter Carnival campaigns.

"Given the rain and conditions in Brisbane at the moment, we thought it best if we start their campaigns on a firm surface which we will get in Adelaide tomorrow."

Both horses will be aimed at three-year-old features with the Stradbroke Handicap also on the agenda.

Gun filly Shopaholic will join the colts on the trip north as O'Brien chases a Group 1 with the Group 2 & 3 winner.

O'Brien also saddles up The New Boy as fav in the listed Adelaide Guineas tomorrow and maiden Donna Cattiva in the two-year-old 1600m listed event.

In Melbourne the trainer has three runners (Eraset, Xavi and River Of Glory) at Flemington.

"We are hoping it's a big weekend for the stable as we have some very good chances," O'Brien said.
