Xavi follows brother's lead

Lightly raced three-year-old Xavi followed the form of his star brother on Thursday at Ballarat when he returned from a spell with a excellent 1400m win.

Xavi's full-brother, four-year-old colt He's Remarkable, returned in super fashion on Wednesday in the Group 3 Newmarket Handicap at Newcastle also over 1400m.

Both colts are by Pentire out of Zabeel-mare Axiom and Xavi's trainer Danny O'Brien was thrilled with his colt's fresh performance and hoped that he would follow in the footsteps of his older brother in the future.

"He is a lovely horse that we have had to be patient with, but he has a good grounding and I am excited about the next 12 months with this horse as he has loads of talent," O'Brien said.

The 13-time Group 1 winning trainer knows the family well as he also trains the older half-sister, Fashion Black, who has won four races in town throughout her career.
