Zah shows good speed

Progressive stayer Zahspeed bounced back onto the winner's list with a strong all the way win at Ballarat on Wednesday.

Taken straight to the front by jockey Glen Boss, the Speed N Power gelding made every post a winner in the BM70 1600m event at his third start back this preparation.

"It was a very good win as he always travelled well and I think he will be even harder to beat when he gets to 2000m," Boss said.

Zahspeed ran second at his previous start at Moonee Valley and trainer Danny O'Brien said the key to the gelding was leading.

"He is loves bowling along out in front and ironically leaders won both his first two starts back, when he has been ridden just off the leader. He has a high cruising speed that he can continue to maintain so taking it up suits him," O'Brien said.

O'Brien has earmarked the BM78 Tour of Victoria Middle Distance Series Final over 2040m worth $80,000 on March 24 at Moonee Valley for his next start.
